My name is John Alden, a name shared with the ships cooper on the Mayflower when it sailed to America in 1621 and I believe that we may be related. That is why in 1971 the name Mayflower miniatures was chosen for my work.
My early childhood between 1939 -1945 was influenced by the war , toys and books were scarce but I was fortunate as both of my parents made toys and passed their knowledge on to me.
So for nearly 80 years toys have played an important part in my life, playing, learning , making, dealing and collecting. With that acquired knowledge I design and make automata , folk toys, and miniatures .
